Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) is an under graduate course in the field of Pharmacy. This field mainly concerns with the preparation and dispensing of drugs and medicines. It is a course of 4 years duration. B.Pharm course will cover a syllabus including health care and biochemical science. The program covers practical experiments along with theory classes. The candidate with a degree in Pharmacy has a great career ahead. They are assured of good salary packages also. They can also go for their higher studies including Mater’s degree in Pharmacy, Master of Business Administration etc.

Eligibility

The basic eligibility for the B.Pharm program is a pass in HSC (10+2). The students must have studied Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. The applicants must have scored at least 50% marks in 12th standard or equivalent with Mathematics or Biology as one of the subjects. Another education qualification which will be considered equivalent to +2 is the D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy).

Practical Training

Each candidate shall undergo the practical training in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing House or Laboratory or an approved Hospital/National Research Laboratory for a period of not less than 300 hours to be covered in not less than 2 month during the course period. B. Pharm degree will be awarded only after getting the training certificate from the training institute.

What to do after B.Pharm?

After completing B.Pharm program, the aspirants can go for a Post graduation or opt for a job in the related field. The best options are M.Pharm and MBA. Both of the programs are offering better career chances. Candidates can decide the course based on their interest. For the post graduation programs, there will be entrance tests. For getting admission into the M.Pharm and MBA programs, the aspirants are selected based on the scores obtained in the entrance test. Once the candidate completed the post graduation in M.Pharm, students can work in health care centers, food and drug administration, sales and marketing department etc.

Job and Career options for B.Pharm

The candidates will get jobs in drug manufacturing companies, research field, chemist shops etc. Some other jobs available for the B.Pharm candidates are drug inspector, medical representatives, lectures etc. After B.Pharm, the candidates can go for M.Pharm or MBA. Teaching is a better choice. The students will get job openings in the government as well as private sector.
