Dr. Bency Baby T is an Associate Professor of Pharmacognosy at Al Shifa College of Pharmacy, Perinthalmanna, Kerala, India. With 10.3 years of experience in academia and research, she holds a B. Pharm degree from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, and an M. Pharm in Pharmacognosy from JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, specializing in plant tissue culture. She completed her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Department of Pharmacy, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, focusing on natural pancreatic lipase inhibitors for obesity treatment.

Dr. Bency is trained in plant tissue culture techniques and phytochemical techniques from the Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute (TBGRI), Palode, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

She teaches M. Pharm, B. Pharm, and Pharm.D students, covering subjects such as Pharmacognosy, Herbal Drug Technology, Pharmacognosy and Phytopharmaceuticals and Quality Control & Standardization of Herbals. She has supervised five B. Pharm projects and actively contributes to research. She has been selected as a member of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) for the development of monographs on medicinal plants. Additionally, she actively participates in national conferences, seminars, and symposiums.

She is affiliated with the Society for Ethnopharmacology (SFE), India, and the Association of Pharmacy Teachers of India (APTI). Her research focuses on natural product-inspired drug discovery, standardization, and quality control of Indian medicinal plants.
